Biography
Professor David Cunningham is of Head of the Gastrointestinal Unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and Surrey and Co-Director of Research Integration for the Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research.

He is the Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), Upper Gastrointestinal Clinical Studies Group.  A Committee member of the NCRI Lymphoma Clinical Studies Group, NCRI High-grade Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma sub-group, NRCI Clinical Studies Group Chair’s Forum and the National Cancer Research Network Operational Steering Group.

He is a faculty member of the Institute of Cancer Research and a member of numerous professional societies including the British Association for Cancer Research, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He completed a 4 year term as a member of the ASCO Education Committee in 2004 and was a member of ASCO faculty Education Program 2005.  In 2009 and 2010 he was a faculty member of the GI Cancer Symposium Programme Planning Committee.

Professor Cunningham is on the Editorial Board of New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Oncology, British Journal of Cancer, Clinical Colorectal Cancer and Current Colorectal Cancer Reports.

Professor Cunningham’s main research interests are clinical trials in gastrointestinal cancer and lymphoma, along with the development of novel molecular therapies and translational research.
